BANGALORE: Sasken Communication Technologies Ltd, today announced that Wistron NeWeb Corp. (WNC) has acquired the license to adopt Sasken’s Multimedia Subsystem Solutions in WNC’s next generation Dual-Mode (GSM+WiFi) phones.

Long used by corporate travelers to keep up with e-mail and appointments, smart phones are now catching on with consumers. Some want to tap out text messages on a QWERTY-style keyboard rather than the tiny keypad of a cell phone. Others see no reason to tote a PDA and a cell phone when a single device can do the jobs of both.

Opera Software said Thursday that it had entered into an agreement with South Korean electronics maker Samsung to provide its namesake Internet browser software for the company`s mobile phones. As the contract is per phone, no estimate of the contract`s total value was provided.

The companies will work together to bring Opera`s namesake browser to future Samsung mobile phones.
